Hello

First time poster here. Sorry if this was asked before but I tried searching and couldn't come up with an exact answer I wanted.

As a general question - how many of your fellow students in your MFE program came from a non-quant background?

Is it possible to enter a MFE program by taking pre-requisite classes on your own? My undergrad degree was in CPA Accounting and Finance

Thanks in advance

Look at Baruch introductions for an idea of peoples' backgrounds.

You need a strong math background, finance will be learned.

I guess I worded my question wrong

I consider myself to have a strong math background as I was supposed to be an electric engineering major at first but made the choice to do cpa/fin instead for an IB position

I basically have a year to take pre-req classes and intend to apply to something in Summer-Fall '10. But is it realistic/feasible to complete the amount of pre-reqs I would need given that I've only done Calc 1 and 2 in undergrad? I'm not so much worried about the difficulty of the class work as opposed to actually being able to complete them on time. I would be working full time as well.

Thx

Did you get it? Was it worth to change majors?

It is totally possible but you better get going... ;)
