Im 24, just finished my Licentiate in Computer Science and my Licentiate in Math at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Should I go for a Phd? I just wan't a job that makes me rich :)

I want a job in finance to make some money. I want to know if I need the PhD for that.

If Quants make millions I want that. If there is another math-related job that makes as much money as possible please tell me which is.

I want to live for my job, wont have a family, so, which is the most money making job I can do?

This is what you've just said: "I want to live for my job, wont have a family, so, which is the most money making job I can do?".
Read it 10 times, and think deeply about it.

However, this is the real answer nobody is going to tell you: the most money making job is still the "call girl" also called the "female escort". If you're a man, no problem, you'll get even more money. With such a job you can take all the "necessary risk", as you stated.

Sorry but this is the only answer I can give to someone who says: "I just want a job that makes me rich."

Whats wrong about not wanting a family and wanting to live for my job? I only want to know if quant is the most payed math related job in finance. If ilI wanted to read all that crap you wrote I would read the fuckin bible

Most traders are not quants. Most quants are not traders.

Hi Ken Abbott,

Nice to meet you here. Since you mentioned "Most traders are not quants, most quants are not traders", may i know does HFT classified as quant traders? If HFT algo trading is not created by quants, how would the quants study R programing to create automated trading in HFT?

If most quants are not traders, what is the job function play by quants in "Sales & trading"?

I wish to hear from you since you are the practitioner.

HF traders are more likely to be quant-oriented.
Most quants in sales and trading develop and manage models and the associated risk. In our current regulatory environment, there's much more of this required than you might think..
