Hello im new on this whole quant thing so to become and quant which i know theres different types of quants
do all qaunts need to know programming?

But it doesn't explain why all quants need programming because I want to be a desk quant where does programming comes in sorry for the dum question

They create complex mathematical and statistical models but you can create models without programming correct or no?

yes there are many models available without programming. say there is a black-scholes model implemented in a spreadsheet and all you need to do is to key in values - no programming needed. or maybe you can take another model say a binomial tree model and combine the two outputs together - wham bamm now you're a quant! Now quant, do you believe these models gives the correct output? can you prove it without programming?

I kinda get what your saying so programming basically allows you to back test the model youve created. Im getting it slowly im just new to all this
