- As I am preparing my knowledge in AI and ML for foundation in quantitative finance, I found myself deeply interest in learning and applying these specific domain of knowledge and wanting to dive deeper. But the more I think about it, as the finance world is advancing with AI, ML and tech applications, is specialising in a field will be more future proof, will financial engineering degree students lose its advantage to more specialised candidates such as AI/ML, stats, applied mathematics, signal processing, etc.?

- I can not get my head around if i should pursue an AI/ML grad program and work towards becoming an expert in this field or Financial Engineering Program with ML subjects which is more aligned with the industry, I would like to hear some more insights from this topic as I am very limited in experience and knowledge, thank you.

Some MFE programs have updated their curriculum to include ML/AI courses.
That said, MFE is a very niche field but well defined with decades of track record. I am not clear how AI/ML degree will end up in the future. It may replace CS degree in the future, or not.
Whatever you choose, it will be super competitive to get an internship and job since all the top STEM applicants study these fields. You just have to go the extra miles beyond others.
Best of luck Kevin.
