if you watch a typical Judo fight, there is much isotonic movement as isometric.
That's why judo is so bad these days. I try to avoid watching 'typical' judo these days; it's just awful.
Teddy Riner is a disgrace to Judo, he has no Japanese spirit and shows no respect on the mat for his opponent.
I trained in the 80's with the Dutch olympic team in Amsterdam (with Wim Ruska, 2 gold in Munich 1972) and these days I still try to do a bit as well
but there is no comparison with the current crop of judokas. Only the Japanese have kept the style.
