Back when I was a young man (deep in the forgotten mists of time), I was hitchhiking in Iowa when I got picked up by a preacher. I got to see him preach. It's skilled work. You have to know how to play the crowd, how to move it, how to galvanise it. If you've ever seen televangelists like Joel Osteen on Sunday mornings, you see them doing exactly this. If I could do it, that's the money-making racket I would be in.
