Thank you Eric Cui. I had really hard time finding PDE course. I tried to find any local universities offering PDE. But, I could not find one. I viwed your link and I think that it is great option.

Do you have any other conditions to meet? Something like python and R. I asked to UCB whether it is ok to take python and R through coursera.

Completing those conditions are definitely helpful for your future career. But that may not be very helpful for changing your status from on- hold to admit. Similar conditions are required for admitted students as well.

I thought that I almost get the admission because I had last phone interview which was not techincal.
But, I had some mistakes on my application. I typed differnt year for my army expereince on my resume and application. I simply confused about my army service year. Thus, the admission office asked me to clarify the information and I fixed it. After fixing wrong information, I did not get the status on the date. I was told that i could get adimission or conditional admisson after talking with admission comittee and I will get the result at afternoon. But, because of wrong information I got the result next day and I got hold, which was shock to me.

I'm not sure the reason for getting hold. The reason could be my mistakes or my weak application compared to other candidates.
So do you think that my chances are slim regardless of my dedication to complete items they asked??
Actually, I will work hard on the items regradless of admission chances. This is because I still think that their advice help me to get the job.

Yes, I have been assigned python too. The following is the reply from the office:

"For the programming courses, you can take Python through the Berkeley Extension program. Matlab can be taken through Open Course Ware at MIT, and R can be taken through Coursera. "

I got rejection last week. I know one guy received offer early last week. I heard that fulfilling those requirements are not much related to their decisions. Some hold candidates received offer without making any progress.

No. I have already enrolled required courses, PDE and numerical analysis. I am R2 applicant, and was put on hold for two months.

I'm one of the applicants of round 2 UCB MFE.
During round two I had two technical interview and last interview with Linda.
After that, I was put on a hold.

Is there anybody put on a hold after interview with Linda??
or anybody knows someone put on a hold after interview with Linda?
I want to know it is a rare case.

Could you please share if interview with Linda technical? I am assuming she will ask questions like why MFE/UCB and your career gaols, etc. Besides, did she challenge your math/programming background?

I am placed on hold for Spring 2017 and guaranteed admission for Spring 2018. Among the action items they list, I am supposed to retake my GRE test and raise my writing score to the 90%. Can I ask the admission commitment to lower their requirement. 90% seems like 5.5 or higher as far as I am concerned. Any information will be appreciated. Thank you.
