Will academic papers help to get me an internship?

Hi, sorry for long stupid thread name.
At the moment, I have + will have 3 SSCI papers on Finance sector. (I believe they are 2nd tier or so...)
I believe all of them will publish before I join MFE program.
As name states, will academic papers help to get me an internship?

Oh sorry.
Proficient in MS Office, C++, R, SAS, Netlogo, Matlab, PHP.
Also I am currently in training for 'Oracle Certified Professional.'

It helps... You need to have a base of other skills and compliment it with academic papers. I can definitely say it was a great point of conversation for me during interviews to talk about my academic papers.
