It is rather intriguing that Baruch had less applicants, yet the admit rate dropped 2%.... Were there really that many unqualified applicants, or was the program only taking about 30? I'm curious.

The overall strength of the applicants was lower:

Fall 2008:
514 applicants, GRE Quant average 780

Fall 2009:
353 applicants, GRE Quant average 770

Everyone who was strong enough was admitted, but we have no upper or lower limit in terms of how many people to enroll.

It is more important to note that over 90% of the Baruch MFE graduates find employment in the financial industry.

I will be taking my GRE this week. Once I finish I will be working very hard to get my C++ skills up. Hope to make it through in the future.
