C++ classes worthless?

I just got a job rec. Looking for a candidate with strong C# skills. Respectable 120k base, big bank in NY...

So I wouldn't say the market is only Python, Java, and R.

I gave a course yesterday in C++ to a steel factory for its real-time systems. Now that's what I call heavy metal, LOL.

Doubt if next version will be in Python..

Indeed. C# is a fantastic language. I am involved with client training in model dev + validation. Good interop with databases, generics, delegates, assemblies etc.

And C# + native C++ interop!

How are non-VBA COM and Worksheet addins done in Excel?
They don't use them. I mean if you start from scratch, there is no need to touch VBA or addins.

I wouldn't touch COM with a 10 foot pole. This is dinosaur technology.

These days .NET has automatic converters for COM components. I was trying to scare you.

Not even with a 40 foot pole

Anecdote: I once gave a course in PDE/FDM with Excel ATL project. A lot of work but in the end we were to build. But the addin did not load ..... the IT guys quarantined the Windows Registry without telling us
