Hi,guys!
I'm a undergraduate student majoring in Mathematics in University of Sheffield,UK,got my bachelor degree in Jun.2011. with a overall 2.2 class (not sure what my GPA exactly is in US standard..).Really wanna get into a US university majoring in MFE or FM,but it seems difficult to nail a school.
Ive worked as an internship in a commercial bank, not sure if the exp is helpful.
Additionally Ive learnt several Econ/Finance courses in my college fundation yrs,am I supposed to put it into my PS?
Gonna take my revised GRE in Jan.14th,2012,so actually there's nothing to refer to.
Ive noticed a coupla MFE program application deadline is around Dec.15th or so,kinda anxious..

Does anyone have some recommendations?
Also, according to my situation, which part should be highlighted in my personal statement to get eye catched?

Thx a lot!

I am applying my self. There are a few programs that you could look into where you might make the deadline:

University of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, NYU and many more. Just look at the ranking list and browse through the programs. A lot of them have deadlines in January and some even as late as early April.

MFE programs are expensive so if possible, try to get a job or relevant internship after college to earn money and experience. Take your time to research on available programs that meet your needs. I imagine I would feel dizzied myself if I were to start looking at MBA or law schools.
This is something that you have to invest serious time in. You don't just go to a car lot and look around for 30 minutes and then put down 50K in cash for a car, right?
If not this year, apply next year. A year won't make or break you but picking the wrong program may bankrupt your future.

Hi Andy,
I am very much interested in Math Fin. Following is my profile:

B.Tech: Chemical engineering IIT Madras
CGPA: 7.43/10
Math grades: C C D E
CFA Level 1 cleared

Subject Math GRE score: 690/60%
General GRE: 165 ( 800 old scale ) and 153 ( 520 old scale )
Above average recommendations.
2 years experience in Java, 2 projects in Matlab, 2 years of C++ in high school.
10th : 93.2%
12th : 90.4%
NTSE Scholar.

I am really very interested in this course.I feel this is ideal for me since i like math and coding.

But you can see my math grades and Math GRE score are bad. Would you suggest I report my Math GRE scores. Would that be better that just reporting poor grades?

I was thinking of applying in Georgia tech, boston univ, michigan univ etc. Due to my poor Math Grades i feel CMU and NYU are out of reach. Please tell me the chances of getting a good job since I heard American economy is not very good presently.

Thanks
Aditya
