Hello,
I’m an Econ and Math major and I’m taking calc III next semester and I was wondering what other math courses I should take besides the recommended pre reqs posted on every MFE admissions page. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I want to make sure my math skills are strong. As far as my programming skills, almost all of my elective are from the computer science department and I’m taking as much courses on programming that I can.

Hard to give an answer because I don't know what these sites have posted. What are the main math categories?

@Daniel Duffy thanks for replying, but most of the program sites say linear algebra, diff. Equations, probability and statistics, multivariate calc, and calc I and II. I’m wondering what other math courses should I take besides these basic pre reqs that will really be helpful for me?

OK, the standard requirements. Some unis have extra requirements e.g. PDE and finite differences.

IMO more attention should be paid to fundamental numerical algorithms and how they are realized in C++ and Python libraries.

@Daniel Duffy yes I forgot about PDE and I’ll look for a class that has a topic on finite differences. And So you’re saying I should take more computer science classes? And thank you for your help, much appreciated!

Knowing CS foundation is always useful but that is a continuous process. Learning how to design and implement financial models asap is even more useful and practical.

IMO you can learn the more theoretical aspects of "CS" on the job as it were, on a need-to-know basis.

regarding PDE I offer from October 2018
