Hi.

The Wilmott website is down, and I am a bit bored.

I came and pitched my tent here, for now.

How have been the things here?

Best
Édouard

Welcome edouard ;)
The UN supply trucks are coming as they say I should expect some refugee spillover. What is happening over there?
I don't expect a site that big to be offline that long.

In the US side here, some people are anxious to hear about their MFE programs result. That will decide their fate in the next few years.
Other people are debating whether they are actually doing any math at work ;)
And many are watching about the immigration debate in the US congress that will effect ALL graduates of these quant programs.

Hi Andy.

Well, in the old Europe, hard-studying students in Finance are quite confident they will very successfully pass their exams.

Their main problem is that there is just NOR internships available in banks NOR exciting jobs to start their brilliant careers in the finance sector.

A bit provocative I recently asked the manager of a trading desk of BBVA "How is the labor market in the finance sector in Spain?". He is a good man, and kindly explained that this is not the 'best' time now for seeking a new job in Spanish banks. :)

Off record (unfortunately, I can not report here), he told many funny stories (I mean scary) related to the current restructuring of Spanish banks. :cautious:

Best,
Édouard

The least one can say is this music video is not environment-friendly at all! :)
I wish the A-Team could also help to fix the problem at Wilmott.

NB: Damn, one can paste pics in this forum!

It's a pretty much standard for the modern web these days.

I am aware that, nonetheless it is quite new to me :). You know what I mean ....
Anyway, the forum part of your website looks good and it is user-friendly last but not least there are strong participants here, I appreciate. And, these are excellent conditions for the preparation of the Online C++ Certificate! :)

Do you know whether TrackStar sometimes shows up in this forum?
Maybe under another username or just as guest. I can't be sure.

Do you know
  • You can highlight and select some text in previous posts and it will show you a Quote me button which you can click and quote directly?
  • You can set up some keyword alerts so it can email you when a topic, person posts in a specific forum?
  • Using Latex is as simple as () or \(\)

And, are 'personal messages' replaced by 'conversations' at Quantnet?

Here's a song to cheer up all you campsite folk:D

The song “C++” (All That You Can't Leave Behind)
In C++ freedom looks like too many choices
In C++ I found a friend to drown out the other vices
Vices on the stack
Vices from heap
Vices of the hard return
Voices down the ostream
In C++, just got a place in C++

In C++ objects get hot well into the hundreds
You can walk around the heap without a change of memory
Hot as a hair dryer in your std::vector
Hot as handbag and a can of voids
C++, I just got a place in C++
C++, C++

In C++ you can forget, forget how to deallocate
Tell yourself you will stay in
But it's down to JavaVille
C++, C++, C++
C++, C++, C++

The Irish have been c++oming here for years
Feel like they own the place
They got the airport, city hall, concrete, asphalt, they even got the police
Irish, Italians, Jews and Hispanics
Java nuts, Matlab fanatics in the stew
Living happily not like me and you
That's where I lost you...C++
C++, C++
C++, C++

In C++ I lost it all to you and your vices
Still I'm staying on to figure out my mid-life crisis
I hit a lambda in my for loop
But you know I'm still afloat
You lose your Ada, lose your Forth
In the queue for the lifeboat

You got to put the women and children first
But you've got an unquenchable thirst for C++
C++, C++
C++, C++

In the stillness of the rebuild
When the Dell has had its day
I heard your voice a-whispering
Come away child

C++, C++
