Some basic questions about the interviews

Hi there,

I'm thinking about a quant job. I have a decent engineering background and I'm an expert in machine learning. I read many post from this blog and, apparently, I would fail an interview even if I'm really good with prediction models -since I lack basic financial skills and concepts.

Let's take, for example, this topic:
http://www.quantnet.com/forum/threads/list-of-sample-questions-for-quant-interviews.7589/

how much time would I have to answer each question?

I assumed I had some chances given my background (i.e. a company can invest on me and teach me what I need to know), but maybe I'm wrong. What do you think? Any advice?

Thanks,
NN

The biggest challenge career-changers face (in my opinion) is that of convincing the interviewer that their interest is genuine. There are too many people out there who just see dollar signs without ten requisite "fire in the belly".

Read all of the care material available on Quantnet. Andy has done a really nice job of putting it all in one place. Talk to people in the business.
