Hi everybody,
I received an offer from SUNY-Stony Brook for a PhD in Applied Math with concentration on Math Finance, but the offer is with no funding, is this common for PhD programs? Is there anyone who is familiar with the admission policies at Stony Brook?
Thank you.

IIRC somebody asked the same question in the past. Do a search and the thread will come up.

Most (all?) science PhDs are funded. Math usually not as much but still funded. That is odd that Stony Brook is tight on funds.

My cousin went to Stony Brook for a phd in EE and I believe he got some sort of scholarship. Also, his TA/RA job paid him enough to cover all his expenses throughout the years of study...

Many universities give you admission without first year funding. You can compete for funding once in the program for second year.
