Thought I'd start a thread to get to know my fellow coursemates.

Objective: To learn C++ for admission to MFE programs.

Programming experience: C, MATLAB as part of BEng coursework. Coded an EEG pattern recognition algorithm in MATLAB for BEng thesis.

Current work: Aerospace engineer (no programming work :()

Intended pace of program: Currently studying for CFA Level I in Dec 2011. Also taking Chicago MSFM prep course starting Oct 4. Hence, I intend to take this at a slower pace until after the CFA exam, and hit the pedal during December. (I hope this won't pose a problem as I understand there are time limits for clearing each module.)
 
Hi all, I am a maths student from Sydney.

Objective: Learn C++ for admission to MFE programs (just like jackcoke) and use that in my final year research project which might be published.

Programming Exp.: VBA

Current Work: Final year mathematics student.

Intended pace: Wish to complete the course early next year, around Jan, as I will be free during December after the end of this semester, i.e. my final year.

Hello, it feels great to be part of this course and I am excited to be part of the first group.

Objective: To learn C++ for admission to MFE programs and to help in developing my own applications

Programming experience: Little C, Little C++, PHP, HTML/CSS, Little SQL, Pascal, UNIX Shell Scripting.

Current work: Seismic engineer with an oil and gas field services firm. My job entails working on the international water zones for oil and gas exploration. Involves a lot of traveling and a lot of usage of UNIX.

Intended pace of program: Currently studying for a technical oral exams to be a Senior Seismic Engineer (Managerial Position). I will be through with the oral exams by the end of October to enable complete the course hopefully by the end of December or January.
