Hi everyone, I'm Mitch! I'm a part-time second BS student in math who works as a SWE in tech, and am planning to submit MFE applications for the 2026 cycle.
Objective: Learn C++ in detail. I haven't had much occasion to use it in my academic or work careers so far, so am still a novice. I'm hoping that learning C++ will enable me to work on some cool side projects that C++ is uniquely suited for.
Programming experience: Strongest in Java, Python, JS/TS. Have also used Go and Ruby at work, and am generally comfortable with picking up new languages quickly from my experience in tech.
Current work: SWE in tech
Intended pace: Would like to complete by the start of fall term ~8/25, but might have to settle for getting close.

Hi Everyone, I'm Adam from NYC! It's so cool to be here! I've never seen an online community this engaged centered around studies for a particular profession before!

Objective: To learn how to code in C++, learn more about what the quant researcher/developer field are all about, shore up my skills for MFE applications, and improve my understanding of computer science in general.

Programming Experience: I'm pretty adept in R (although hopefully this course can broaden my perspective on "adept"). It's met all my needs thus far for data wrangling and financial analysis. I can read Python pretty well, but can only write it at a beginner level. I know a little bit of Java, C, & Stata from college. More broadly, I completed the first three courses in my school's CompSci major and have intermediate understanding of computer science.

Background: I majored in Economics, Math, and Chinese in college (completed undergrad 2022). I've since worked as a researcher in the finance practice of an economic consulting firm, where for the past year I've been working exclusively on a fixed income derivatives portfolio management case.

Intended Pace: Ideally ASAP, but depending on work I could take as long as three months.
