C++ Online Certificate Students' intro thread

Hi everyone, I'm from Australia. Feel excited to join a community that is centred around the good stuff i.e. programming in particular and quant in general.

Objective: To learn C++ for admission to MFE programs and for opportunities that may arise between now and then or after MFE. I plan to finish both the C++ and Advanced C++ course, and I can't wait to get to the 2nd course!

Programming experience: Python/SQL (3+ YoE), R. I love optimising code and always try to look for ways to make code run faster, but I guess Python itself isn't enough to capitalise on opportunities in the quant space.

Current work: Python developer

Intended pace of program: Just finished Week 3 of the first course. Planning to spend at most 10 days for any given week.

Strong background in Python, SQL, and AI/ML for finance; some basic exposure to C++ and now aiming for deeper expertise required in quant roles.

Current Work:
Senior Software Engineer at Fidelity Investments, focusing on automation, AI/ML integration, and financial systems. I’ve also completed the Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF).

Intended Pace:
Following the recommended pace, dedicating steady daily hours and supplementing with extra practice to ensure I can apply C++ effectively in both interviews and real-world finance.

Looking forward to learning with you all!
